What is Surya Namaskar
Surya Namaskar also known as Sun Salutations is a complete exercise that works on each part of the body inclusive of all the main muscles and joints. It is a meditative practice that includes Yoga Asanas, Pranayama, and meditation.

Surya Namaskar is basically a sequence of 12 Postures synchronized with breath. As we move into these 12 Postures we will lengthen, strengthen, flex and extend some major muscle groups, organs and joints of the body.
Surya Namaskar and breath coordination
To incorporate breath into Surya Namaskar we inhale and exhale as we transmit from one Posture to another. Thus the time it takes to get into the next pose should ideally be the time taken by you to inhale/exhale.
Some people are used to shallow breathing and have very short inhalation/exhalation. For them it is better to first improvise their breath as a full yogic breath, make it slow and deep and then combine it with Surya Namaskar.
Surya Namaskar supports the body’s natural detoxification process by increasing blood circulation, compressing and stretching internal organs, encouraging mindfulness and relaxation.
